I bought the bike brand new from BMW Motorrad Park Lane, London.
She was born on March 18th in Germany and had her first steps in London on May 21st 2015
Since then we have covered over 30327 miles and counting….
After riding a BMW F650GS for 8 years it was a natural progression. I out grew the 650 after a few years and wanted something that felt right for my height & ambitions. I wanted a reliable bike with a shaft drive as I’m fed up paying for chains and sprockets! I wanted a bike that would cruise at 80 mph all day long without the straining the engine, I wanted a bike I could travel the world on a feel confident it would get me around. I wanted the new BMW R1200 GS Adventure!
Some say it’s too big and too heavy, (I wrote an article on that here) but personally I find it’s just right for me, I love it’s road presence, the forward vision it gives you from the upright seating position & the all around feeling of confidence you get from riding it on and off road!

I had BMW Motorrad Park Lane add the panniers & the Akrapovic exhaust
I didn’t like the standard colour (white) so I decided to make her a bit different from the original GSA that rolls off the line by having the screen and winglets tinted & having her wrapped in matt black with custom holographic chrome decals. All the work was done by these amazing guys at Siyara Automotive
After riding Around Italy last year on the bike I decided to fit a sheep skin on my riding seat to take the heat outta my ass! It’s a low cost solution for a comfy ass on long and short rides! You can get one here from Alaska Leather. The one downside is that coming from the USA you have to pay an import customs tax on it! You have been warned!
I’ve added some Touratech parts too, such as: Crash-bar bags either side which I keep my disc lock in, headlight protector, rear brake reservoir guard, side stand switch protector, side stand base extension, fog lamp protectors, spoiler risers for the hand guards & the tool box!
In preparation for my upcoming Trans USA & Canada Tour 2016 I bought some Areostich tank panniers to put my everyday things in, offsetting the need to open the panniers every time I leave the bike!
To try and keep the dessert sand out of my eyes a little more I’ll be trying out the Wunderlich Ergo screen extension 3D
As I’ll be riding at night a lot of the time I’ve had a set of Clearwater ‘Erica‘ LED lights fitted to the front of the bike which pump out a whopping 6000 lumens each side. They are simply amazing. The difference in clarity and output is second to none, they quite literally turn night into day!
For filming the ride I’ve bought a Go Pro Hero 4 Silver and I’ll be using the Wunderlich Go Pro Mount
Last but not least, with the help of Wil Linssen I fitted an auxiliary 12v charging socket direct to the battery so I can use my Airman Tour pump in the event of any punctures or flat tyre!
